The United Nations Standing Committee on Nutrition (SCN) is a UN organization with a cross-cutting mandate to battle malnutrition.
To promote cooperation among UN agencies and partner organ.izations in support of community, national, regional, and international efforts to end malnutrition in all of its forms in this generation.
The SCN held an event last month in Rome assessing the impact of the food crisis on nutrition.
Underscoring the neeed for coherent and wide-ranging action, one presenter observed that since early 2008 the food crisis has resulted in a substantial reduction in household purchasing power and that the real income of poor decreased at least 25%.
